The Buddha said on the subject of war

Subject: [Baba] The Buddha said on the subject of war:
One day, Sinha, the general of the army, went to the Buddha and
said, " I am a soldier, O Blessed One. I am appointed by the King
to enforce his laws and to wage his wars.
روزی سینها، ژنرال ارتش، نزد بودا رفت و گفت، "ای تبرک یافته، من توسط پادشاه گمارده شده ام تا قوانینش را اعمال و جنگ هایش را اداره کنم.
The Buddha teaches infinite love, kindness and compassion for all sufferers: Does the Buddha permit the punishment of the criminal?
بودا عشق بی پایان، شقفت و مهربانی را برای تمامی رنجدیدگان آموزش می دهد.
آیا بودا اجازه ی تنبیه مجرمان را می دهد؟
And also, does the Buddha declare that it is wrong to go to war for the protection of our homes, our wives, our children and our property?
و همچنین، آیا بودا اعلام می کند که جنگیدن برای محافظت از خانه ها، همسران، کودکان و اموالمان نادرست است؟
Does the Buddh teach the doctrine of complete self surrender?
Should I suffer the evil-doer to do what he pleases and yield submissively to him who threatens to take by violence what is my own?
آیا بودا نظریه ی تسلیم سازی کامل خود را آموزش می دهد؟
آیا من باید از عمل اهریمنی دیگری که هرچه بخواهد می کند در رنج باشم و
منفعلانه تسلیم کسی شوم که مرا تهدید به گرفتن داشته هایم با خشونت می کند؟
Does the Buddha maintain that all strife including warfare
waged for a righteous cause should be forbidden?"
آیا بودا براین عقیده است که تمامی ستیزه ها،
شامل جنگ برای هدفی نيكو بايد ممنوع باشد؟"
The Buddha replied, "He who deserves punishment must be
punished. And he who is worthy of favour must be favoured.
بودا پاسخ داد، "کسی که مستحق تنبیه است باید تنبیه شود.
و کسی که لیاقت مرحمت دارد باید مورد مرحمت قرار گیرد.
Do not do injury to any living being but be just,
filled with love and kindness.
به هیچ موجود زنده ای آزار نرسان، بلکه عادل باش، با عشق و مهربانی.
All warfare in which man tries to slay his brothers is lamentable.
تمام جنگ هایی که در آن انسان می کوشد تا برادرانش را کشتار کند اسفناک هستند.
Struggle must exist, for all life is a struggle of some kind.
مبارزه باید وجود داشته باشد، زیرا که تمامی زندگی نوعی از مبارزه است.
But make certain that you do not struggle in the interest of
self against truth and justice.
ولی مطمئن باش که برای منافع شخصی و علیه حقیقت و عدالت مبارزه نمی کنی.
He who struggles for peace and truth will have great
reward; even his defeat will be deemed a victory.
كسي كه برای صلح و حقیقت مبارزه می کند پاداشی عظیم خواهد داشت؛
حتی شکست او یک پیروزی انگاشته می شود.
"If a person goes to battle even for a righteous cause,
then Sinha, he must be prepared to be slain by his enemies
because death is the destiny of warriors.
سینها، اگر کسی برای هدفی نیک به مبارزه می رود، باید برای کشته شدن توسط دشمنانش آماده شده باشد، زیرا مرگ مقصد جنگجویان است.
And should his fate overtake him, he has no
reason to complain. But if he is victorious his success may be
deemed great, but no matter how great it is, the wheel of fortune
may turn again and bring his life down into the dust.
و اگر سرنوشتش براو وارد آید، دلیلی برای شکایت ندارد.
ولی اگر او پیروز شود، پیروزیش شاید بزرگ انگاشته شود، ولی هرچقدر هم که بزرگ باشد، چرخه ی اقبال باردیگر خواهد گردید و زندگیش را به خاک می کشاند.
However, if he moderates himself and extinguishes all hatred in his heart, if he lifts his down-trodden adversary up and says to him,
"Come now and make peace and let us be brothers,"
then he will gain a victory that is not a transient success;
for the fruits of that victory will remain forever.
بااین وجود، اگر او خویشتن را متعادل ساخته و تمامی نفرت را از دلش خاموش کرده باشد، اگر او دشمن ازپای درافتاده اش را بلند کند و به او بگوید، "اینک بیا و آشتی کن
و بگذار برادر باشیم"، آنگاه پیروزی او یک توفیق گذرا نیست.
زیرا که ثمرات این پیروزی برای ابد باقی خواهد ماند.
"Great is a successful general, Sinha, but he who conquers self is the
greater victor. This teaching of conquest of self, Sinha, is not taught
to destroy the lives of others, but to protect them.
سینها، یک ژنرال موفق فردی بزرگ است، ولی کسی که بر نفس خویش چیره شده باشد فاتح بزرگتری است. سینها، این آموزش چیرگی بر خود برای نابودکردن زندگی دیگران نیست، بلکه برای حفاظت از آنان است.
The person who has conquered himself is more fit to live, to be successful and to gain victories that is the person who is a slave of self.
کسی که خویشتن را چیره شده باشد برای زندگی کردن، برای موفق بودن و پیروز شدن شایسته تر از کسی است که برده ی خویشتن باشد.
The person whose mind is free from illusion of self,
will stand and not fall in the battle of life.
He whose intentions are righteousness and justice,
will meet with no failures.
فردی که ذهنش از توهم نفس رها است، در مبارزه ی زندگی پابرجا است و سقوط نمی کند.
کسی که نیتش نیکوکاری و عدالت باشد در این مبارزه بدون شکست باقی می ماند.
He will be successful in his enterprise and his success
will endure. He who harbours love of truth in his heart
will live and not suffer, for he has drunk the water of immortality.
او در اقدامات خود موفق است و توفیق او استوار است. کسی که عشق به حقیقت را در دل خویش پرورده است، زندگی می کند و رنج نمی کشد، زیرا که از آب حیات نوشیده است.
So struggle courageously and wisely.
Then you can be a soldier of Truth."
بنابراین، با شهامت و خرد مبارزه کن.
آنگاه می توانی سرباز حقیقت باشی."
